German Handelsblatt Features QD in Start-up check

German Handelsblatt featured QuantumDiamonds in their "Startup Check" after an onsite visit, highlighting its potential as a game-changer in semiconductor testing.

Munich, October 20, 2024 — QuantumDiamonds is excited to announce that Handelsblatt, one of Germany’s most respected business and technology publications, has recently featured the company in an article highlighting its cutting-edge semiconductor testing technology. Known for its deep expertise in covering the latest developments in tech and innovation, Handelsblatt was invited to an onsite visit that covered the most recent measurements and technological advancements.

The article underscores QuantumDiamonds’ pioneering work in utilizing nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in synthetic diamonds for fast, non-destructive testing of semiconductor chips. Handelsblatt’s tech experts were given exclusive access to observe the latest testing procedures, which are setting new standards in speed and accuracy for chip manufacturers. The report emphasizes how QuantumDiamonds’ breakthrough enables precise current mapping and defect detection in semiconductor circuits, reducing the testing process from weeks to mere seconds.

As semiconductors become increasingly complex, the demand for better testing procedures intensifies. Handelsblatt highlights the competitive landscape, noting that other companies are also vying to innovate in this space. The DAX-listed Merck Group, for example, is planning to acquire Unity-SC, a rising provider of measurement and inspection systems, for €155 million. Merck's board member, Kai Beckmann, responsible for the electronics division, emphasized in the Handelsblatt article the critical importance of advanced testing technologies in the semiconductor sector. He pointed out that for new technologies such as heterogeneous integration of chiplets and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), precise 3D measurement techniques are indispensable.
